About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager will oversee the company’s financial reporting processes and ensure compliance with company policies, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Bank of Zambia Prudential guidelines, and relevant legislation. The successful candidate will lead accounting, payroll, tax compliance, and financial forecasting activities, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities for Finance Manager Jobs in Lusaka
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, lead month-end close, and conduct monthly financial forecasts.
- Compile and submit Quarterly Board papers and Prudential Returns to the Bank of Zambia on schedule.
- Deliver audited annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS standards.
- Coordinate annual external audits and resolve audit findings across departments.
- Ensure adherence to company accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit all relevant statutory returns including PAYE, SDL, NAPSA, NHIMA, and WHT, ensuring timely payments.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and support business development through financial analysis.
- Manage the Fixed Asset Register and reconcile subledgers such as bank accounts and payroll loans.
- Oversee supplier payments with correct tax treatment and prepare general ledger reconciliations.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and provide strategic financial insights including cash flow projections and ratio analysis.
- Motivate and develop finance team members through coaching, performance appraisals, and career development initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks, ensuring effective internal controls to prevent fraud.
Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Accountant qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or CA Zambia, with mandatory membership in the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in microfinance, banking, or financial services, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong expertise in IFRS and comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance within the microfinance sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and computerized accounting systems.
- Sound understanding of payroll administration, loan management, credit risk, and portfolio management.
