Job Purpose
The Tax Assistant will assist the Tax Accountant in the management of the  tax compliance requirements for the Organisation. Be responsible for gathering and organizing financial documents, including income statements, expense records, and receipts. Inputting data into tax preparation software or spreadsheets.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Ensure timely and accurate filing of all taxes: VAT, Import Duties, PAYE, WHT, Property Transfer Tax and Income tax returns.
Support tax compliance & reporting works, maintain and manage annual tax calendar for filing requirements
Calculating and recording the amount of taxes due and reviewing payment schedules
Reviewing reporting documents and forms received from clients to ensure their accuracy
Ensure proper computation of tax liabilities through informed application of tax laws and regulations.
Ensure as far as possible that statutory deadlines for the filing of tax returns are achieved,
Support Customs and exercise Compliance
Ensure reconciliation of tax data with SAP on a monthly basis and correct tax discrepancies.
Filing returns with local, state, and federal agencies.
Reviewing and preparing reports such as property tax reports and sales tax exemption certificates.
Ensure all payments are posted and reconciled on a monthly basis.
Provide tax audit support and maintain correspondence from tax authorities.
Conducting research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Assist with communicating with ZRA to gather necessary information and answer basic tax-related questions.
Maintaining confidentiality and data security of clients’ financial information.
Assisting with general administrative tasks related to tax preparation.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and ExperienceÂ
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance OR
Full/Finalist of CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA
Must have a minimum of at least 3+ years in accountancy with experience in taxation.Â
Proven knowledge of the Zambian Taxation systemÂ
Must be able to do tax computations and conversant with the mechanisms of all the tax types administered by ZRA.
Proven knowledge of tax accounting and filing.
Proficient in MS Office tools
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and other  Tax Software.
Must be a member of ZICA
Tax assistant training
