Job Overview: Southin Contracting Limited is an industrial, mine maintenance company dedicated to offering professional, industrial contracting services and maintenance works including all business support works and general supply, by delivering quality services in the safest manner to value the customers’ time and their resources.

To manage and analyze financial records, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Will be responsible for recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, invoicing and ensuring accurate financial records. Should also specialize in areas such as auditing, tax preparation, management accounting and forensic accounting when needs arise. To play a crucial role in supporting informed decision-making by providing valuable insights and guidance to the organization.

  • Maintain proper accounting records and support the month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Reconcile tax accounts and address discrepancies promptly
  • Liaise with ZRA on tax matters, audits, and compliance queries
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on implications
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Conducting internal audits and support external audits by preparing required schedules and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Prepare, review, and file statutory tax returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Income Tax, etc.) in accordance with ZRA requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ZRA requirements, and timely remittance of all tax obligations.
  • Ensure accurate calculation, recording, and timely remittance of all tax obligations and assist in preparing monthly financial statements, management accounts and reconciliations.
  • Maintain proper accounting records and support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and address discrepancies promptly.
  • Liaise with ZRA on tax matters, audits, and compliance queries.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on implications.

Qualifications:

  • Grade Twelve (12) full school certificate
  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • ZICA membership (or eligibility for membership) is required
  • 5 years’ work experience in accounting and tax compliance
  • Strong knowledge of Zambian tax laws and statutory requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High level of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
