About the Workshop Manager Role
As Workshop Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of daily workshop activities. You will supervise repair and maintenance tasks on trailers and trucks, uphold safety and housekeeping standards, and lead a team of technicians and apprentices. Your oversight will guarantee that all jobs are completed on schedule while maintaining high quality and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities for Workshop Manager Jobs in Ndola
- Manage and supervise daily workshop operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with safety protocols.
- Oversee trailer and truck repair processes, including breakdown response and emergency callouts.
- Monitor progress to ensure timely completion of repair and maintenance tasks.
- Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly reports detailing workshop performance.
- Conduct quality control inspections to maintain high repair standards.
- Coordinate with stores for accurate material planning and availability.
- Train, mentor, and develop workshop technicians and apprentices to enhance team capability.
- Manage labor hours, overtime, and overall workshop productivity effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- Valid Class B Driver’s License; Heavy Duty Vehicle Driver’s License is advantageous.
- Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science, or equivalent technical qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience in trailer repairs and servicing.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working on Shacman truck repairs and servicing.
- Proven supervisory experience spanning at least 3 years.
- Technical knowledge of hydraulics, suspensions, air brakes, and truck electrical systems.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage and motivate workshop personnel.
