About the Role: Warehouse Tuck Shop Assistant Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing inventory and stock handling in the warehouse while also supporting tuck shop operations that serve hospital staff, caregivers, and visitors. This position requires a balance of logistical accuracy and customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warehouse Duties:
    • Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes to ensure accuracy.
    • Maintain accurate stock records by updating the inventory management system regularly.
    • Organize and store items safely and systematically for efficient retrieval.
    • Issue stock to various departments based on approved requisitions.
    • Monitor stock levels, reporting low or expiring items promptly to supervisors.
    • Keep the warehouse clean, orderly, and compliant with hospital procurement policies.
    • Assist with regular stock counts, including monthly, quarterly, and annual inventories.
  • Tuck Shop Duties:
    • Provide courteous and efficient service to customers, including staff, caregivers, and visitors.
    • Operate the cash register accurately, ensuring proper cash handling and receipting.
    • Replenish shelves and maintain attractive product displays to enhance customer experience.
    • Monitor product expiry dates and rotate stock to minimize waste.
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the tuck shop area.
    • Support daily sales reconciliation and submit cash to the Finance department as required.
    • Assist in identifying fast-moving and slow-moving items to inform restocking decisions.

Candidate Competencies and Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in stock handling and record keeping.
  • Good numeracy skills and trustworthy cash handling abilities.
  • Customer service oriented with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain compliance with organizational policies.
  • Physical stamina to lift, carry items, and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with inventory systems, point of sale (POS) software, and Excel, is an advantage.
