Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will interpret construction drawings, prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and produce technical drawings to ensure project accuracy and efficiency. This role requires a blend of quantity surveying acumen and drafting proficiency to support multiple projects across various sites.
- Quantity Surveying Duties:
- Review and analyze architectural and engineering drawings to prepare accurate BOQs.
- Conduct material take-offs with a high degree of measurement accuracy.
- Monitor and manage materials in alignment with BOQs across multiple project sites.
- Assist with estimate preparation, evaluation, and contract administration.
- Provide cost control measures and value engineering recommendations to optimize project budgets.
- AutoCAD & Drafting Responsibilities:
- Create, edit, and update technical drawings using AutoCAD software.
- Draft construction details, layouts, and plans adhering to industry standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and architects to refine and finalize designs.
Qualifications and Experience Required for Quantity Surveyor Draftsman Jobs in Lusaka
Candidates must possess a strong educational background and relevant professional experience to thrive in this role.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Registered and fully paid-up member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
- All academic qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
- Professional Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in quantity surveying and drafting roles.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant drafting or design software.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.
- Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working in both consultancy and contracting environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
