The Zambia Federation of Disability Organisations (ZAFOD) is currently inviting applications for program officer jobs in Lusaka. About the Role: Program Officer – Elections (Disability Inclusion)
The Program Officer will be instrumental in supporting ZAFOD’s disability-inclusive election observation program. This full-time position, based in Lusaka, focuses on coordinating the implementation of election monitoring activities that enhance the participation of persons with disabilities in political processes. Reporting directly to the Elections Program Manager, the successful candidate will ensure effective partner collaboration, timely delivery of program activities, and comprehensive monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities for Program Officer Jobs in Lusaka
- Assist with the implementation of disability thematic election monitoring, including training and preparation of observer materials.
- Support the organization of workshops, conferences, and meetings related to the elections program.
- Monitor political developments relevant to the program’s objectives.
- Manage ZAFOD’s online platforms for the elections program, including social media communication and outreach.
- Train and supervise interns involved in the disability election observation team.
- Contribute to recruiting both short- and long-term election observers.
- Develop strategic documents such as work plans, reports, and briefings.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of long-term and election day observers.
- Maintain the election program database and support data analysis.
- Draft weekly reports on observation activities to inform advocacy efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, Law, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in governance, elections, or civil society programming.
- Proven experience in program implementation and coordination.
- Familiarity with electoral processes and/or disability inclusion programming.
- Basic knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting methodologies.

- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Basic analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Working Conditions
- Position based in Lusaka with occasional travel within Zambia.
- May require extended working hours during peak election periods.
