Role Overview: Mobile Crane Operator

The Mobile Crane Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile cranes to lift, move, and position materials such as scrap metal, finished steel products, and equipment within designated work areas. This role demands strict compliance with safety protocols and close collaboration with riggers and supervisors to maintain a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and accurately position materials and equipment around the plant.
• Conduct thorough inspections of the crane before and after each operation to ensure optimal working condition.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and company policies during lifting and material handling tasks.
• Collaborate with riggers and supervisors to execute safe and effective lifting practices.
• Maintain detailed records of crane operations, reporting any faults or defects promptly.
• Ensure all loads are properly secured and balanced prior to lifting.
• Provide assistance with general yard operations as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
• Valid Mobile Crane Operator Certificate or License.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience operating mobile cranes in industrial or construction settings.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures and proper lifting techniques.
• Physical fitness and ability to operate safely in an industrial environment.
• Strong ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively within a team.
