About the Mechanical Fitter Positions in Chikankata
Reporting directly to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, the Mechanical Fitters will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of mechanical systems within the power development facility. The successful candidates will be responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical faults, and supporting plant safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on mechanical systems to maintain operational efficiency.
- Assist in developing and refining maintenance procedures to improve workflow and safety.
- Participate actively in plant safety meetings and strictly adhere to all safety regulations.
- Execute lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance to ensure a safe working environment.
- Provide emergency after-hours mechanical support as required to minimize downtime.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Craft Certificate in Mechanical Fitting from a recognized institution.
- At least five years of practical experience as a Mechanical Fitter within a utility or industrial setting.
- Hands-on experience with power generating equipment or complex industrial mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of Francis turbines is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of mechanical instruments and test equipment.
- Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining strict compliance with safety procedures.
