About the Mechanical Engineer Role

As a Mechanical Engineer reporting to the Superintendent Light Mobile Equipment (LME), you will play a key role in ensuring the maintenance, reliability, and performance optimization of our Light Mobile Equipment fleet. Your expertise will directly support operational efficiency and safety standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for maintenance and repair activities on Light Mobile Equipment.
• Monitor fleet performance and recommend initiatives to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Investigate equipment failures and recurring defects, implementing corrective actions promptly.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with OEM standards and company procedures.
• Conduct quality control inspections before releasing equipment back to operations.
• Analyze maintenance data and prepare detailed technical and performance reports.
• Participate in troubleshooting, breakdown analysis, and root cause failure investigations.
• Oversee contractor and service provider performance to maintain quality standards.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to technicians and artisans as needed.
• Promote strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and company policies.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 3 years of experience in mobile equipment maintenance; mining sector experience is an advantage.
• Practical experience with light vehicles, buses, pickups, service trucks, forklifts, and support equipment.
• Familiarity with SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order tracking.
• Knowledge of fleet maintenance management systems and reliability engineering practices.
• Membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Possession of an unrestricted Class B driver’s license.
