Position Overview for Head Driver Jobs in Lusaka

The appointed Head Driver will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all daily transport activities involving concrete mixer trucks. This critical role ensures the timely delivery of concrete to various project sites while maintaining vehicle performance and addressing any maintenance or emergency issues promptly. The successful candidate will lead a team of drivers and operators, fostering a culture of safety and compliance with operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the operations of concrete mixer trucks to meet production and delivery schedules
• Ensure efficient and punctual delivery of concrete to designated project locations
• Monitor vehicle performance regularly and manage routine maintenance requirements
• Respond effectively to operational emergencies during transportation to minimize disruptions
• Lead, support, and mentor a team of drivers and equipment operators to optimize productivity
• Enforce strict adherence to safety and operational guidelines to maintain a safe working environment

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated experience driving concrete mixer trucks within a cement plant or similar industrial environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of mixer truck operations and related procedures
• Capability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and handle emergency situations effectively
• Loader operator experience will be considered an asset
• Residency in Lusaka with a strong familiarity of local routes and transportation procedures preferred
• Minimum education level of Grade 12 certificate
• Proven leadership abilities and excellent communication skills
• Experience operating heavy-duty vehicles safely and responsibly
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently under pressure while managing a team
