Cluster Coordinator Opportunity in Eastern Zambia

Ignite Access Zambia is seeking a dedicated professional to fill the role of Cluster Coordinator. This position serves as the primary liaison for mini-grid site operations across an assigned cluster, focusing on driving energy access growth through sales, customer engagement, and community development. Key Responsibilities for Cluster Coordinator Jobs in Eastern Zambia

  • Site Performance Analysis & Business Advisory: Monitor and analyze data on connections, revenue, load factors, arrears, and uptake of productive use of energy (PUE). Collaborate with local operators to develop business plans targeting connection growth, revenue improvement, and risk mitigation. Identify underperforming sites and lead recovery efforts.
  • Community Development & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with community leaders and facilitate Energy User Committees to ensure community involvement in service design and grievance resolution. Lead educational campaigns on energy products and promote PUE opportunities through anchor institutions like schools and SMEs.
  • Sales, PUE & Commercial Growth: Drive new household and commercial connections to meet targets, market energy-efficient appliances, and develop tailored plans for commercial customers. Manage credit assessments and oversee customer contracts from onboarding to post-connection support.
  • Cluster Administration & Reporting: Oversee documentation, asset tracking, and compliance across cluster sites. Prepare progress reports covering commercial and community engagement metrics. Supervise local operators and ensure adherence to health, safety, and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Community Development, or related fields.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in rural sales/business development, community development, SME advisory, microfinance, or agribusiness.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Experience working in off-grid, rural, or underserved markets.
  • Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel regularly within the cluster.
  • Proficiency in Excel or equivalent tools for data analysis and reporting.

Preferred experience includes exposure to PUE programs, solar home systems, mini-grid operations, community facilitation, financial modelling, and rural electrification initiatives.

Language Requirements

Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in local Eastern Province languages such as Nsenga, Chewa, and/or Nyanja is essential for effective community interaction.
