As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will focus on optimizing branch operations for both existing and new locations, conducting comprehensive market research, and supporting strategic planning initiatives. Your expertise will guide decisions on branch network development, competitive positioning, and customer engagement, ensuring ASA Microfinance Zambia remains a leader in the microfinance sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Branch Optimization & Performance Analysis: Collect and analyze branch data to identify gaps and growth opportunities; conduct feasibility studies for new branches; develop dashboards tracking key performance indicators; advise management on branch restructuring or expansion; monitor new branch performance against targets.
  • Market Research & Opportunity Analysis: Perform primary and secondary research to identify new markets and customer segments; analyze competitor and regulatory environments; prepare market entry reports and business cases; maintain a comprehensive market intelligence repository.
  • Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting: Design structured data collection methods; conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses; produce clear, visually engaging reports and presentations; ensure data integrity; collaborate with IT and MIS teams to improve data systems.
  • Strategic Planning Support: Provide data-driven insights for annual strategic planning; assist in developing branch expansion roadmaps and medium-term plans; monitor strategic initiatives and report on progress; engage in cross-functional analytical projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Field Work: Conduct field visits to validate data and gather insights; liaise with branch managers and regional coordinators; present findings and recommendations effectively to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Data Science, or related disciplines from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate qualifications such as a Master’s degree or Postgraduate Diploma are advantageous.
  • Certifications in data analytics or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Analytics Certificate) are preferred.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analysis, market research, or strategic planning.
  • Experience in financial services, particularly microfinance, banking, or development finance sectors.
  • Proven ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Familiarity with branch network analysis, geographic mapping, or site evaluation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Zambian microfinance regulatory environment and socio-economic context is highly desirable.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modelling) and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with BI and data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools like SPSS, R, or Python.
  • Database design and data extraction skills using SQL or similar query languages.
  • Strong financial modelling, quantitative analysis, and research capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
