Engineering Quality Controller – Refinery & Packing Station (Off-Crop)

Zambia Sugar Plc is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia.

Zambia Sugar carries out Off-Crop maintenance works in the Factory for a duration of up to four (4) months. The Company invites applications for:

2. ENGINEERING QUALITY CONTROLLER – REFINERY AND PACKING STATION x 1 – OFFCROP

Department: Manufacturing Department (Nakambala)
Reports To: Reliability Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for detailing the relevant quality control checks under refinery and packing station and ensure that the said checks are being carried out according to set standards.

Key Performance Areas:

• Provide oversight of various quality control functions required on key factory refinery and packing station maintenance activities in the plant.
• Supervising quality control checks on various mechanical equipment throughout the plant, guaranteeing a full season run.
• Manage the documentation requirements detailed in the Quality Control Management Plan.
• Report all issues to the Reliability Engineer / Engineering Manager and the Quality Control Team Lead.
• Strong liaising with Plant owners to ensure buy-in from the team on required works.
• Train and test artisans pre and/or post off crop.
• Generate maintenance procedures where they are lacking or deficient in quality.
• This is a flat rate-based contract for up to 4 months.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Technician certificate in Mechanical Fitting.
• Workshop Technology and Sugar Technology experience will be an added advantage.
• Preferably 5+ years post experience in a heavy industry environment.
• A Trainer’s qualification will be an added advantage.
• Experience in the sugar industry is an added advantage.
• Extensive experience in maintenance of equipment such as gearboxes, pumps and conveying equipment from supervisor level upwards and QC experience.
• Both verbal and written strong communication skills, time management, and ability to lead teams.
• Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
