Arm Secure Limited, a leading security services provider, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of Workshop Manager based in Lusaka.

Position Summary

The Workshop Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing all workshop operations, ensuring that company vehicles are repaired efficiently, maintained to the highest standards, and released back into service on time. The role requires hands-on supervision of mechanics and technicians to ensure work is completed correctly, safely, and within agreed timelines. The successful candidate will be accountable for minimizing vehicle downtime and maintaining a fleet that is operationally ready at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all vehicle repairs and maintenance activities within the workshop.
  • Ensure vehicles are repaired correctly and released from the workshop within agreed turnaround times.
  • Monitor repair progress daily and follow up on outstanding jobs to prevent unnecessary delays.
  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate mechanics and technicians to ensure quality workmanship and productivity.
  • Ensure all workshop staff adhere to company procedures, safety standards, and performance expectations.
  • Diagnose recurring vehicle issues and implement corrective measures to reduce repeat breakdowns.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all company vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and vehicle service history.
  • Manage workshop resources, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of required parts.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and provide regular updates on vehicle status, workshop performance, and fleet readiness.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet roadworthiness, licensing, insurance, and safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Fleet Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in vehicle maintenance and workshop management.
  • At least three (3) years in a supervisory role managing mechanics and workshop personnel.
  • Proven experience in vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and fleet maintenance.
  • Experience managing large vehicle fleets will be an added advantage.

  • Ensure compliance with road safety regulations, licensing, and insurance requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, maintenance costs, and vehicle availability.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence within the workshop.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Fleet Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in vehicle fleet maintenance management.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Proven experience managing large vehicle fleets, preferably within the security, transport, logistics, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
