Position: Voluntary Executive Director

About the Organisation

Kwacha Kum’mawa is a registered, non-profit, non-partisan community organisation established in 2001 and based in Chipata. The organisation promotes community development through education, digital inclusion, health, and socio-economic empowerment, with a strong focus on women, youth, and vulnerable populations across Eastern Province and beyond.

Vision: An inclusive and empowered Zambian society with access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunity.

Mission: To strengthen communities through education, digital literacy, health support, and women and youth development initiatives.

Role Overview

Kwacha Kum’mawa seeks a strategic, mission-driven, and tech-savvy Voluntary Executive Director to provide leadership during a growth and donor-readiness phase. The role involves close collaboration with the Board and Secretariat to strengthen programmes, partnerships, fundraising, and organisational visibility.

This is a voluntary role with the possibility of joining the long-term leadership team after three months, subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership aligned with the organisation’s vision and mission

Work with the Board and advisors to mobilise resources and partnerships

Coordinate community programmes, including:

Weekly women’s nutrition demonstrations

Weekly children’s feeding programmes

Education, digital literacy, health, and empowerment initiatives

Lead digital inclusion initiatives supplying refurbished computers, tablets, and phones

Promote effective use of digital tools for education and service delivery

Engage local donors, Board members, and diaspora supporters for fundraising

Strengthen donor readiness and organisational partnerships

Lead women and youth membership recruitment and systems development

Oversee website, social media, and organisational communications

Support new office space identification and organisational networking

Represent the organisation in stakeholder engagements

Candidate Profile

Experience in NGO leadership, community development, or programme coordination

Strong digital, communication, and organisational skills

Fundraising, networking, and stakeholder engagement experience

Passion for community empowerment, education, health, and inclusive development
