Job Purpose:

The Safeguarding Officer will support the leadership of VisionFund Zambia in establishing and nurturing a strong safeguarding culture. This role involves contextualizing and rolling out Child and Adult Safeguarding policies, creating training and capacity-building systems, managing incident response, and monitoring compliance across all national and branch operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Policy Implementation: Contextualize VisionFund Zambia’s Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy for national and branch-level operations.
• Leadership Support: Provide the CEO and Senior Management Team (SMT) with resources and advice to foster a healthy safeguarding culture and co-create safeguarding action plans.
• Training & Capacity Building: Develop and deliver safeguarding orientation and training programs for staff, the Board, interns, volunteers, partners, and visitors.
• Incident Management: Manage and investigate safeguarding concerns and reports in accordance with organizational and global protocols.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Lead working groups to complete annual safeguarding reports, maintain the Safeguarding Risk Register, and ensure compliance with VisionFund International standards.
• Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison with the VisionFund International (VFI) Safeguarding Network and lead VFI-initiated initiatives (e.g., Safeguarding Awareness Week).

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Law, Human Rights, Social Work, Human Resources, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), GBV (Gender-Based Violence), or safeguarding work.
• Prior experience working within development, humanitarian, or microfinance environments is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and investigation/case management capabilities.
• Strong computer literacy and knowledge management skills.
