UG Electrical Supervisor

The Barrick Africa Middle East team is seeking to recruit a UG Electrical Supervisor to join and grow the team.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise electrical technicians, coordinate contractor activities, and ensure a safe working environment.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, including high-voltage distribution, industrial control panels, and mine-specific infrastructure.
- Enforce safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.
- Optimize maintenance workflows using CMMS systems, troubleshoot complex electrical faults, and ensure 24/7 equipment reliability.
- Review engineering drawings, manage spare parts inventory, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support training of junior staff and develop cross-training programmes for a multi-skilled workforce.
- Assist in managing budgets for maintenance, materials, and projects.
- Oversee smaller electrical projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring work is completed to specifications.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, industrial control, and mine-specific infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of electrical technicians.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices in underground mining environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and ensure efficient workflow.
- May require specific electrical certifications such as Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, and relevant safety certifications.
Qualification Requirements
- Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Trade Certificate equivalent.
- Environmental Policy Awareness.
- Mines Health and Safety Act Awareness.
- Power factor correction and generators.
Experience and Competencies Needed
- Minimum five (5) years’ electrical experience on Sandvik/CAT mining equipment.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Verifiable track record gained in a similar diversified high-level portfolio.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of electrical management systems.
- Ability to consistently manage a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment.
- Highly professional conduct and ability to work with a diverse client base.
- Significant base knowledge of all areas depicted in the profile.
- Motivated individual with the ability to operate with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong maintenance, project management, and systems improvement-related experience.
- Strong technical and strategic planning experience.
- Strong safety commitment, policy, and enforcement experience.
- Experience with selection, maintenance, and operation of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Experience managing infrastructure projects.
- Computer literacy in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, ERP, and MRP packages such as SAP, Ellipse, Pronto, Oracle, or similar.
