Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Training Specialist – Rigging to join the versatile Human Resources Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Maintenance Training Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training, assessments, and mentorship to employees operating or maintaining Rigging equipment on site, as well as to students in the apprenticeship program.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Design, and deliver training programs to Rigging technicians, Rigging Apprentices and in service personnel
Deliver modular based training and TEVETA approved subjects for apprentices and Inservice trainees.
Develop training material, manuals, guidelines and Safe work instructions to meet specific business needs and international best practice on Lifting Equipment.
Develop maintenance Rigging technicians’ technical skills in areas such as basic Rigging, forklift operations, scaffolding, etc.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in Rigging technology and adapt training programs accordingly.
Provide hands on training on how to operate rigging equipment and tools such as planks, fiber ropes, wire ropes and swing scaffold, etc. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal record-keeping standards.
Train employees/Apprentices on how to use different types of working platforms, swing scaffold and forklift, cherry pickers, use of Jacks, rollers and skid in moving heavy equipment and structural members
Ensure optimum use of DAMSTRA learning management system to enhance employee learning efforts.
Developing and updating of role/ trade specific training curriculum and training manuals
Facilitate knowledge transfer and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) training sessions for Forklift, Cranes, any other Lifting equipment.
Perform Standard Task Assessments by observing the demonstration of knowledge and skills.
Ensure accurate training and competency records are maintained for all trainings conducted in Rigging for employees and Apprentices.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure training aligns with operational needs and contributes to minimizing equipment downtime.
Collect and analyze information to assess performance statistics, statutory requirements, systems efficiencies and business improvement initiatives.
Assist the Supervisor/ Coordinator with improvement related project tasks, change management initiatives and other projects to improve the efficiency of the light vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance services and training systems.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/ coordinator/ superintendent and Manager.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
Minimum qualification of Craft Certificate in Rigging or equivalent
Certificate in Teaching Methodology
SAQA / Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment/ Train the Trainer training qualification (or equivalent) an added advantage
Minimum five (5) years working experience
Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ & ERB)
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint
