About the Role: Training Specialist Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting to the Coordinator – Apprenticeship & Graduates, you will design and deliver comprehensive training programs for mining apprentices and graduates. Your primary goal is to develop competent, safety-conscious operators skilled in excavator and shovel techniques aligned with operational standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute structured training programs for Heavy Mobile Equipment operators, ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements.
  • Deliver theoretical classroom instruction on equipment systems, controls, safe operating procedures, traffic management, hazard identification, and emergency response.
  • Conduct practical, hands-on training including pre-start inspections, safe maneuvering, loading and dumping techniques, and equipment shutdown procedures.
  • Coordinate supervised on-the-job training, ensuring learners operate equipment within authorized competency and supervision levels.
  • Assess learner competence through written tests, practical evaluations, simulator assessments, and logbook reviews.
  • Maintain accurate training records, certifications, operator authorizations, and refresher schedules in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Monitor operator performance, identify skills gaps, and recommend refresher training or coaching as required.
  • Integrate lessons from incidents, near-misses, audits, and updated procedures into training content to reinforce critical risk controls.
  • Collaborate with Mining Supervisors, Maintenance teams, Safety Officers, and program coordinators to ensure training supports operational productivity and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all training materials and assessments comply with OEM standards, site procedures, and mining regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the coordinator.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Certificate in Excavator and Shovel Operations.
  • Certificate in Teaching Methodology from a recognized institution.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar training role within mining operations.
  • Strong planning skills and meticulous record keeping.
  • Proven ability to work safely within a team and promote safety awareness.
