Tender for the Construction of a 1×2 Classroom Block in Makululu, Kabwe

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A 1X2 CLASSROOM BLOCK IN MAKULULU KABWE.

INTRODUCTION

Habitat for Humanity Zambia is a locally registered Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1984 and currently operates in three provinces namely; Lusaka, Central and on the Copperbelt. The organization has been responding  mainly to shelter needs and related issues such as water and sanitation to serve the most vulnerable families living in marginalized peri-urban communities within the three provinces.

HFH Zambia through its Improved Access to shelter is funding the construction of : a 1×2 classroom Block in Makululu Kabwe.

DELIVERY APPROACH

Habitat for Humanity Zambia  promotes a community driven approach involving the local authority (Council),District Education Board (DEBS),schools Management and community members and its leadership from the onset during  the planning , implementation,monitoring  and completion  of installation works. This ensures development of local capacities in quality delivery of the product to the satisfaction of end users and the funding agencies in accordance to the scope of works (see annex 1 below).

Habitat for Humanity Zambia is now inviting bids from interested  Bidders for the construction:  of a 1×2 classroom block in Makululu – Kabwe.

This  includes; i) Substructure works: Excavations, concrete footings and blockwork works, , back filling material (Gravel or laterite) ii) Superstructure works: slab concrete works, blockwork, concrete window cills, Lintel construction works,  and roofing sheets installations,electricals,iron Mongery fittings and Plumbing fittings for the Kitchen area and Finishes i.e Plastering, screed/terrazzo floor, half rough cast and half painting.

ELIGIBLE BIDDER
Habitat for Humanity Zambia reserves the rights to invite bids from its registered Venders.

The Bidder is required to possess the following;

General Eligibility and Compliance

-Valid NCC category B or C

-Valid ZPPA Certificate

– Pacra Registration

– Valid Worker’s compensation fund board certificate

-Company Profile with physical address

-Valid EIZ /ERB registration Licence

-Valid Tax Clearance certificate

-Provision of brief method statement

-Provision of  3 Months latest bank statements

-Duration of project & Gant chat showing schedule of works

Personnel,Experience and Equipment

-Registered EIZ Water engineer,civil engineer, or related qualifications with diploma or degree added advantage  with at least 3 years experience for supervision of works.

-Plumber at least 3 years experience

-Electrician at least 3 years experience

-Proof of carried out past experience in similar works (Certifications of completion,award letters,Purchase orders etc).

-Truck 4×4 able to access muddy roads

– Plate compactor

-Poker vibrator

 

The Bidder is encouraged to visit the site and examine the site and its surroundings and obtain for itself, own risk and responsibility, all information that may be necessary for preparing the bid.The costs of visiting the site shall be at the Bidder’s own expense.

DEADLINE FOR BIDS SUBMISSION
All sealed bids must be deposited in the Tender Box at the Habitat for Humanity Zambia National Office, located at Plot 488a, Twin Palms Road, Kabulonga, Lusaka. Submissions must include a non-returnable USB flash drive containing soft copies of all documents submitted.

·         Deadline for Submission: No later than Wednesday, 28th May 2025, by 10:00 AM

·         Submission Address: Addressed to the Chairperson, Procurement Committee

·         Tender Opening: The Tender Opening Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Habitat for Humanity Zambia National Office.

Please ensure that all submissions are clearly marked with the tender title and adhere to the submission guidelines.

SIGNING OF CONTRACT
Promptly upon notification, the Employer shall send the successful Bidder the contract agreement for review and signing.

PROJECT DURATION
The employer expects the project to be completed within 4 months of the date of signing the contract.
