Technician – Security Systems

Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Arm Secure Ltd is a leading security solutions provider committed to delivering innovative and reliable electronic security services. We are looking for a skilled, dedicated, and results-oriented Technician to join our Technical Department.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of electronic security systems for residential and commercial clients while ensuring high-quality customer service and technical support.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Installing and configuring IDS and Paradox alarm systems.
• Installing, programming, and commissioning CCTV systems (Analog and IP), DVRs, NVRs, and remote viewing applications.
• Installing, servicing, and repairing sliding and swing gate motors.
• Installing, energizing, testing, and maintaining electric fence systems.
• Programming alarm panels, sensors, keypads, and remote controls.
• Conducting system testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Installing and maintaining biometric access control systems (ZKTeco and Hikvision).
• Installing and supporting guard monitoring systems.
• Performing network setup, including routers, switches, cabling, and IP addressing.
• Responding promptly to service call-outs, alarm faults, and emergency breakdowns.
• Conducting site surveys and recommending appropriate security solutions.
• Providing user training on installed systems.
• Completing job cards, service reports, and maintaining accurate installation and maintenance records.
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and stock materials.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Building and maintaining excellent customer relationships through professional service delivery.
• Performing any other duties assigned within the scope of the role.

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or related Engineering.
• Valid practicing licence.
• Additional certifications in security systems installation will be an added advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have practical experience in:

• IDS Alarm Systems.
• Paradox Alarm Systems (programming and troubleshooting).
• CCTV systems (Analog and IP).
• Gate motor installation and maintenance.
• Electric fence installation and maintenance.
• Biometric access control systems.
• Guard monitoring systems.
• Electrical installations.
• Network configuration, including routers, switches, cabling, and IP addressing.

Required Competencies

• Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good computer literacy for system programming and configuration.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Physically fit and willing to work at heights and in outdoor environments.
• Reliable, honest, and self-motivated.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
