NICO Insurance Zambia Limited, a general insurance company, has been operating in Zambia since 1st October 1997 and has branches in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and Chipata. NICO Insurance Zambia Limited is a member of the NICO Group of Companies operating in Malawi.

The Company is seeking to identify a suitable qualified and experienced individual to be engaged as Team Lead- Financial Reporting reporting to the Finance Manager.

Main Purpose of the Job

To support the Finance Manager in supervising daily tasks performed by accounts team, general ledger reviews and reconciliations, preparation of audit schedules, preparation of returns to regulator and tax authority.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop and consolidate cashflow and expenditure forecasts for the company and submits to the Finance Manager.
Provide inputs in developing the annual Financial Operating Plan/budget (investments).
Update monthly rolling forecasts and submit to the Finance Manager for approval.
Submit provisional expenditure budget schedules to the Finance Manager for inclusion in the annual expense budget.
Prepare the monthly expense analysis against the budget and recommend appropriate action to the Finance Manager.
Perform variance analysis and analytical reviews on all account balances and submit a report to the Finance Manager and reasons for variances.
Supervise the timely and complete preparation of monthly and annual schedules and reconciliations and submits to the Finance Manager for the preparation of statutory financial statements in line with GAAP and regulatory framework.
Prepare periodic expense analysis and accompanying commentaries to the financial reports and submits to the Finance Manager.
Prepare BOZ/CSO/PIA/ZRA returns and submits to the Finance Manager for approval for timely submission.
Update schedules and submits to the Finance Manager for inclusion in the Group Consolidation Pack, abridged financial statements for the Company.
Prepare branch income and expense report, balance sheet, cashflows and submits to the Finance Manager.
Ensure daily matching, banking and reconciliation of receipts, bi-monthly bank reconciliations.
Obtain third party investments reports and assesses and makes recommendations to the Finance Manager.
Updates the capital, solvency, liquidity and balance sheet for the Company and submits to the Regulator through the Finance Manager.
Ensure statutory and other obligations are settled timely.
Review/prepare reconciliations and ensure that all reconciling items are followed up and are cleared timely.
Monitor completeness of premiums booked by monthly review of unapproved policies in the system before close of the reporting period.
Provide auditors with information and resolves any queries arising in liaison with the Finance Manager.
Identify disciplinary problems or issues and arrange for the necessary disciplinary action in line with Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

First degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
ACCA / CIMA/CA Zambia (Intermediate level).
5 years Financial Accounting experience.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience at a supervisory level.

Skills and Competencies

Clear verbal and written communication and ability to prepare accurate reports.
Ability to plan and organise in line with job requirements.
Possession of attention to detail and initiative to anticipate and resolve issues timely.
Ability to analyse and solve work related problems to achieve the correct outcomes. 
Ability to interact, negotiate (where applicable) and achieve targets. 
Fully paid-up Member of ZICA.
