About the Role: SHEQ Officer Jobs in Chingola

As a SHEQ Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. Your work will involve conducting thorough inspections and risk assessments, enforcing personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, investigating incidents, and supporting environmental and quality management systems. You will ensure compliance with corporate policies and Zambian regulations while fostering continuous improvement initiatives that enhance our safety culture and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety inspections and lead comprehensive risk assessments across all sites.
  • Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and monitor PPE compliance.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and coordinate safety inductions and emergency drills.
  • Proactively identify hazards and non-compliance issues, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Support environmental management initiatives including waste segregation, spill prevention, and pollution control.
  • Assist in quality assurance by implementing Epiroc Quality Standards, monitoring non-conformance reports (NCRs), and supporting audits.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies, ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001), and local regulations.
  • Deliver training on key SHEQ topics such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), working at heights, confined spaces, and manual handling.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including SHE registers, incident logs, and statutory reports for regulatory bodies and stakeholders.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in SHEQ Management Systems or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in SHEQ roles, preferably within mining, heavy industry, or service sectors.
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, or equivalent are highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Zambian occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and quality management systems.
  • Experience with incident investigation methodologies including 5-Why and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is preferred to facilitate mine site visits.
