Senior Research Officer – Law Reform

Job description

The Zambia Law Development Commission (ZLDC), a statutory body established under the Zambia Law Development Commission Act, Chapter 32 of the Laws of Zambia, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Zambians.

Job Purpose

To undertake specialised law reform work in support of the Commission’s mandate to make recommendations for law reform and development, including preparation of proposed Bills and related reform proposals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare recommendations for law reform, including proposed Bills.
• Review Bills and other subject matter referred to the Commission and provide technical input.
• Ensure law reform outputs are informed by research findings and stakeholder input.
• Participate in consultations and deliberative processes by providing technical input and clarification.
• Supervise Research Officers and manage delivery of assigned outputs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Full Form V/Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
• Minimum five (5) years post-qualification experience in legal research or policy analysis.
• Minimum two (2) years experience in a formal supervisory role.
• Legislative drafting experience is an added advantage.
