Senior Procurement Officer

Job description

The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for managing procurement processes, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, and optimizing supply chain operations. The role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing procurement budgets, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to support operational efficiency. This position reports to the Commercial Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to contract management.
Identify and source reliable suppliers for goods and services.
Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
Conduct market research and supplier evaluations for cost-effective procurement.
Negotiate contract terms and pricing with vendors.
Ensure all contracts comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Manage contract renewals, amendments, and terminations effectively.
Ensure procurement activities comply with public procurement laws, company policies, and ethical standards.
Mitigate supply chain risks by ensuring vendor reliability and quality assurance.
Work with the finance team to plan and control procurement budgets.
Monitor and analyse procurement expenses to improve efficiency.
Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
Minimum five (5) years of work experience in a similar position.
