Job Purpose
The Senior Heavy-duty Mechanic will be responsible for driving to the job site, inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet. Inspecting trucks, forklifts, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the repair process for mechanical equipment
Maintain and service machinery in order to keep it operational on road or in workshop
Provide preventative maintenance, repairs, and service on heavy equipment
Make sure all work is performed in accordance with policies and procedures
Lend expertise to other team members as needed
Prevent breakdowns in heavy equipment by conducting preventive maintenance and repairs
Perform minor repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems
Follow manufacturer’s directions for basic repair and maintenance
Check integrity of equipment
Keep detailed maintenance records
Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
Repairing damaged equipment parts.
Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or similar
Must have a minimum of at least 5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience on a wide variety of equipment especially trucks, forklifts, cranes and bulldozers
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
Sound Knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance; electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems; mechanical systems troubleshooting
Ability to use many different tools without requiring assistance
In-depth knowledge of large machines and diesel engines is a major plus
Ability to work both individually and as part of a team
