Job description:

 

Job title: Senior Finance Accountant

Site:  Kansanshi Mining Plc.

Department:  Finance

Section: Accounts Receivable and Inter Company

Position reports to: Superintendent Accounts

Grade: 16

Direct reports: Superintendent Accounts

 

Purpose

To ensure accurate and timely processing, verification and reconciliation of customer accounts, payroll inputs preparation and submission, Intercompany charges processing and réconciliations, liasing with interco partners to resolve queries in good time, preparation for all audit assignements with internal and external auditors, preparation of Financial Statements for all entities under KMP

 

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local regulations.
Manage general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes. Identify, investigate, and resolve any anomalies uncovered during the reconciliations.
Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely provision of documentation, resolution of audit queries and facilitating closure of audit findings in alignment with key board reporting and group consolidation deadlines.
 Analyse operational costs on a monthly basis and flag any out layers before month end closure.
 Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by ensuring that all approved assumptions are accurately incorporated and impacts are thoroughly considered.
Ensure compliance with taxation, royalties, statutory filings and other financial obligations relevant to the mining industry. Maintain documentation and implement strong internal controls to support audit readiness and reduce financial risk exposure
Monitor asset Capitalisation, depreciation schedules and disposals to ensure company policy is adhered to at all times.
Prepare cash flow reports and assist in managing working capital by collaborating with relevant leads in ensuring adherence to company policies related to inventory management, prepayments, Capital expenditure and accounts payables.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements for all FQM entities supported by the company ensuring full compliance with IFRS and local regulations.

Recommend and implement process improvements to increase financial efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ZICA) – full or part qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

5-10 years of progressive experience in Accounts
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards.
Experience with ERP/financial systems (Pronto and Basware desirable).
Proven track record of vendor account reconciliation and resolving complex queries.
Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g., VAT, WHT) and regulatory requirements.
