Scrap / Salvage Yard Supervisor

Job description:

Specific Job Responsibility

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

• Delegate daily jobs to the workforce.
• Ensure safety is maintained at all times in the work area.
• Keep accurate work and record keeping, including maintaining log books to ensure statutory compliance.
• Manage contractor trucks and ensure loads are well secured.
• Control material disposal and segregation.
• Ensure proper yard delineation.
• Perform any other duties delegated by the coordinator.

Job Specific Competencies

• Mechanical knowledge of scrap materials.
• High level fabrication skills.
• Ability to operate a forklift or TLB.
• Knowledge of lifting and rigging.
• Awareness of all safety rules and regulations

Experience required to perform in this job

• Minimum 3 years as a supervisor.
• Minimum 5 years as a boilermaker

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Craft Certificate or its equivalent.
• All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
