Reporting to the HSMS Specialist, the Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing projects, procedures, and systems that strengthen our health and safety management. This full-time position involves identifying hazards, evaluating risks, and devising effective risk treatment strategies within our mining operations.

Key Responsibilities in Risk Analyst Jobs in Kalumbila

Conduct daily reviews of near misses and hazards, validating risk ratings and recommending appropriate action plans.

Facilitate detailed risk assessments, especially when introducing changes or new technologies affecting health and safety systems.

Review consequence matrices for high-risk areas and collaborate with supervisors to determine accurate risk profiles.

Participate in developing policies, procedures, and safe work programs to reduce risks to the lowest practicable level.

Lead initiatives to improve leading safety indicators and regularly review safe work programs for effectiveness.

Manage significant event logging, monitoring, and evaluation, supporting Health & Safety teams with the Event Management System (EMS).

Conduct scheduled internal audits of health and safety systems, and develop corrective action plans for identified issues.

Monitor closure of recommendations from external audits and assist operational teams in maintaining compliance.

Drive systems integration projects linking health & safety with security, training, and performance management systems.

Enhance reporting quality by developing tools for graphical and numerical data representation.

Review significant incidents to ensure root causes are addressed and recommend additional controls where necessary.

Conduct targeted health and safety surveys and provide detailed feedback to management.

Perform additional duties as assigned by HSMS leadership to support health and safety objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of a Grade 12 / Form V school certificate.

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related mining discipline from a recognized institution.

At least five years of relevant experience in risk management or a related field, including two years in a supervisory or lead role.

Valid Zambian driver’s license.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with mine-relevant software such as ERP, Control Systems, and EMS.

Exposure to programming, coding, or HMI control systems is advantageous.

All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
