Job Description:

Job Purpose

The Part-Time PE Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and age-appropriate physical education lessons while encouraging students to develop fitness, sporting skills, teamwork, discipline and healthy lifestyles.

The role will also support the school’s extracurricular sports activities, including coaching, training and participation in sporting events where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective PE lessons according to the school’s curriculum.
  • Teach a range of sports and physical activities appropriate to students’ ages and abilities.
  • Encourage participation, teamwork, discipline and good sportsmanship.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate students with different physical abilities and skill levels.
  • Assess and monitor students’ progress in physical education.
  • Maintain appropriate records of student participation and performance.
  • Support school sports teams and extracurricular sporting activities.
  • Assist with sports days, competitions, tournaments and other school sporting events.
  • Coach students in relevant sporting disciplines where required.
  • Ensure all PE activities are conducted safely and professionally.
  • Inspect sports equipment and facilities and report any safety concerns.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision of students during lessons and sporting activities.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, fitness and wellbeing among students.
  • Communicate effectively with the Head of School, teachers and parents when required.
  • Follow all school policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety and student conduct.
  • Participate in staff meetings and relevant school activities as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Education or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification will be an advantage.
  • Previous experience teaching PE or coaching young people.
  • Experience in school sports programmes is desirable.
  • Knowledge of a range of sporting disciplines.
  • First Aid certification is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
