Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) is a national Railway of Zambia. The Company specializes in transporting heavy cargo in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as well as running a local passenger train service. The area of product specialization is freight-bulk cargo and passenger rail services to the satisfaction of all Stakeholders. The Company therefore seeks the services of committed, vibrant, innovative, and strategically focused and business oriented Zambian nationals to fill the vacant positions below:

JOB TITLE:            PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

JOB GRADE:         ZRL05

SUPERVISOR:      MANAGER PUBLIC RELATIONS

JOB PURPOSE:

To manage, plan, organize, direct and control the company’s public relation so as to promote and maintain a good image of the company in the eyes of the public.

MAIN DUTIES

Participate in developing public relations and communication strategies to improve ZRL’s public image and raise awareness on the products and services.
Update and maintain the organization’s digital platforms to enhance the company’s social media presence.
Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, plans and procedures.
Able to write,edit press releases, articles, newsletters,  promotional materials and other organizational publications.
Craft compelling messaging for various public relations
Design and produce visually appealing graphics, videos ,brochures and other digital content using design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
Assist in planning and executing company events, such as exhibitions, press briefings, product launches and community engagement programmes.
Coordinate logistics, materials, and communication for successful event execution.
Brand monitoring on social media and traditional media on the company and its products/services, making recommendations for response strategies.
Conduct research and analysis to inform PR strategies and tactics.
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, web bloggers, social media influencers and other stakeholders.
Handle protocol duties for senior executives and high-profile personalities.
Facilitate programs for innovation and talent showcasing.

Academic /Professional Qualifications:

Full grade 12 certificate (5 ‘0’ levels) with credit or better in Mathematics and English
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations and Journalism and Media Studies, or a related field.
Proven experience in public relations, communications, or a similar role (preferably over 3years experience in a similar role).
Membership to Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication.
