Job description

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Zambia is a Zambian NGO implementing development projects across all 10 provinces in Zambia in the following thematic areas: Health, education, integrated community development, agriculture and environment with climate change, gender and human rights as cross cutting elements.

DAPP Zambia seeks the services of a Project Accountant to handle multiple projects. The position is based in Ndola at the DAPP Headquarters.  He/ she will report to the project Finance Manager.

1.    Main roles and responsibilities:

1.1 Ensure that monthly transactions are posted on a timely basis and maintain accurate record keeping of all transactions.

1.2 Maintain custody of payment vouchers.

1.3 Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project estimates/budgets, document significant budget variations.

1.4 Prepare schedules for statutory obligations related to the assigned projects.

1.5  Verify the contractual and financial details of each invoice and payment.

1.6  Assist in the preparation of payroll, updating lists of staff and their payments.

1.7  Prepare documentation for audit purposes; producing audit files as required, supporting the coordination, planning, and execution of both internal and annual external audits.

1.8  Produce timely bank reconciliations.

1.9  Maintain up to date assets registers for the Projects assigned.

2.    Qualifications

2.1 Bachelor of Accountancy Degree or equivalent, with at least 3 years’ experience; or Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent with at least 5 years’ experience.

2.2 Paid up member of Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA).

2.3 Intermediate or advanced user of Sage 300 ERP or other approved accounting software.

 

3.    Application

3.2 The cover letter and CV must preferably be one document, and the applicant’s name must be the name of the document, with the job title as the subject of the email.

3.3 Applicant must indicate, in the application letter, the current, or the last gross salary received.
