Job description

Role Purpose

The Production & Site Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of all

Curtain Factory operations — including production, installations, inventory, and team

management. This role ensures that every order is delivered on time, every team member is

performing, and every operational problem is resolved before it reaches the client or the CEO.

Supervises / Manages

Production Supervisor, Installation Technicians, and all operational staff within Curtain Factory

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Operational Management

• Oversee all daily operations across production and installations

• Ensure all jobs are planned, scheduled, and delivered on time

• Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks proactively

• Maintain clear job tracking and workflow management

• Ensure production capacity matches sales demand at all times

Team Management

• Directly manage the Production Supervisor and Installation Technicians

• Hold regular team check-ins and performance conversations

• Address poor performance, absenteeism, or conduct issues promptly — escalate to HR

• Ensure all team members understand their KPIs and daily targets

• Support onboarding of new operational staff

Site Leadership & Installation Delivery

• Lead the installation team on site — attend installations and take direct responsibility for delivery

quality on every job

• Direct and oversee Installation Technicians on site — ensure they work safely, professionally, and

to the company standard

• Handle all client interactions on site — brief the client at arrival, address concerns calmly, and

obtain client sign-off on completion of every installation

• Plan and prepare for each installation — review specifications, materials, tools, and site

requirements in advance

• Manage time on site to complete jobs within the allocated schedule — no avoidable overruns

• Conduct a final quality check before leaving each site — no installation leaves the team with

substandard or incomplete work

• Protect all client property throughout the installation process — zero tolerance for avoidable

damage

• Follow and enforce all safety procedures on site — correct use of ladders, drills, and fixings; report

incidents to the CEO immediately

Inventory & Procurement

• Manage stock levels of fabrics, components, and installation materials

• Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement

• Flag inventory shortages before they impact production

• Ensure stock records are accurate and up to date

Quality & Standards

• Ensure all products meet the company’s quality standards before dispatch or installation

• Implement corrective actions when quality issues arise

• Maintain a culture of quality and pride in workmanship across the team

Reporting

• Report weekly operational status to the CEO

• Track job completion rates, error rates, and team output metrics

• Flag operational risks to the CEO promptly

Role Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Education

• Zambia School Certificate (Grade 12) minimum

• Diploma or certificate in Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field

advantageous

Experience Required

• Minimum 3–5 years in an operations or production management role

• Experience managing teams of 5 or more staff

• Experience in a manufacturing, retail, or trades environment preferred

• Exposure to scheduling, inventory management, and workflow planning

Skills & Competencies

• Strong organisational and planning ability

• Ability to manage multiple concurrent workflows

• Good interpersonal and team leadership skills

• Basic computer literacy — email, spreadsheets, job management tools

• Ability to read production schedules and interpret job specifications

Personal Attributes

• Decisive — able to make quick operational decisions under pressure

Accountable — takes ownership of problems rather than deflecting

• Disciplined — maintains standards consistently, not only when supervised

• Collaborative — works well across departments and with support functions

Working Conditions & Special Requirements

• Office and factory/workshop environment

• May be required to visit installation sites

• Must be available for urgent operational matters outside standard hours on occasion

• Valid driver’s licence advantageous
