Job description

Based in Lusaka, Zambia, Lusaka International Community School (LICS) is a co-educational, secular, fee-paying, non-profit school that provides an internationally recognised education to a culturally diverse, globally-minded student body in a caring and supportive learning environment. LICS holds in high esteem its vision statement, which is to “maximise the potential of future world citizens”.

LICS is a leading independent Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary School based in the leafy suburb of Roma in Lusaka, Zambia, and is a member of CIS, AISA, and ISAZ.

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and innovative Pre-Primary Assistant Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will work with learners in our early years department, supporting their growth and development during this crucial stage of their education, with effect from 1st October 2025.

1.     Requirements

Strong knowledge of curriculum delivery in early years education.
Excellent English reading and writing skills.
Proficiency in ICT applications, including MS Word, educational software, and interactive whiteboard techniques (eBeam).
Ability to use a range of teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques.
Commitment to continuous professional development.

3.     Qualifications and Experience

Teaching Certificate / Diploma in Early Childhood Development (ECD).
Minimum of 2–3 years’ professional experience in a school setting.

4.      Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Support the lead teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons that meet Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) standards.
Assist in creating an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor and record learners’ progress, contributing to reports and parent communications.
Support the social, emotional, and academic development of learners.
Promote good behaviour, punctuality, and positive attitudes towards learning.
Participate in school activities, assemblies, and parent-teacher meetings.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective use of resources and best teaching practices.
Uphold the school’s Vision and Mission, safeguarding learner well-being at all times.
