Job Description The Role is responsible for planning the movement of CCBZ products between the point of origin to the point of destination, to meet the requirements of the customer and company, while optimising resources within a structured planning framework in the secondary distribution environment. This position reports to the Logistics Manager.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor and manage distribution productivity by ensuring the efficient usage of distribution resources and achieving optimal fleet planning
Address and resolve out-of-delivery day and emergency orders schedules to maintain service continuity.
Implement routing and route optimization strategies, including sequence scheduling optimization using planning systems like FLO, to maximize distribution efficiency
Ensure that distribution plans are optimized according to established procedures and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to meet performance targets.
Engage and collaborate with various stakeholders, including distribution expeditors, warehousing staff, sales personnel, settlement clerks, drivers, and fleet workshops, to meet business needs.
Analyze and leverage distribution information to improve planning and operational decisions
Maintain Accurate master Data: Ensure that master data is accurate and up-to-date, supporting effective planning and system performance.
Apply best practices for FLO and other planning systems to enhance route planning and manage system trip sheets effectively.
Utilize Tracking and Control Hub monitoring to oversee distribution processes and act on information from expeditors to improve system performance.
Effectively manage distribution resources to optimize plans and achieve desired customer service levels
Gather and incorporate customer feedback and requirements into planning processes to continuously improve service quality.
Engage in effective communication with sales staff and other stakeholders to align distribution plans with customer service expectations and provide solutions to address service-related issues.
Perform thorough analysis of daily distribution plans to identify areas for improvement and ensure system accuracy.
Provide relevant planning inputs based on data analysis to enhance overall distribution planning and optimization.
Skills, Experience & Education
Grade 12, O level with 5 credits or better
Minimum Diploma in Logistics or Transport
2 years’ work experience in logistics in an FMCG environment, satellite tracking software systems
Additional experience and/or exposure in sales
Minimum of 18 months of experience in load planning or distribution operations will be an advantage.
General understanding and knowledge of the business (value chain and support processes) – including understanding of distribution methods and principles
ERP system experience will be an added advantage
General understanding of fleet principles and resourcing practices
Fully paid member of the Zambia Institute of Transport & Logistics
