WE ARE HIRING!

MINE CAPTAIN – DRILL & BLAST

Location: Maamba, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate blast preparation, drilling readiness, charging, stemming, tie-in, guarding, clearance and post-blast release.
• Ensure blast areas comply with approved designs and drilling patterns before execution.
• Enforce explosives controls, exclusion zones, risk assessments and statutory requirements.
• Stop and escalate unsafe work, unauthorised access, misfires and design deviations.
• Coordinate blast schedules and area release to minimise production delays.
• Coordinate drilling and blasting contractors and blast-support crews.
• Prepare blast readiness, execution, delay and handover reports.

Required Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Planning, Geology or a related discipline is preferred.
• Valid Blasting License.
• Registered and paid-up member of EIZ/ERB.
• A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in open-pit mining operations, with strong exposure to drill-and-blast execution.
• 2–3 years’ experience coordinating drill-and-blast crews, contractors or shift teams.
• Practical experience in blast preparation, exclusion-zone control and post-blast inspection.
• Experience in coal mining, bulk commodity or open-cast operations is advantageous.
