 As we continue to grow, we are looking for experienced MINE CAPTAINS to join our team at Mancala Mining Services Limited in Chililabombwe.

Job purpose:  The Underground Mine Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient and productive execution of underground mining activities. The role provides operational leadership to Shift Bosses and P.I.C.s, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, company procedures, mine plans, ground support standards and client expectations while achieving planned production targets.

Roles and responsibilities

Promote and demonstrate visible safety leadership.

 Ensure compliance with all statutory mining legislation and company standards.

• Conduct routine underground inspections.
• Verify workplace examinations are completed to the required standard
• Execute the approved weekly and daily mining plans.
• Coordinate production activities across all active headings
• Coordinate with Engineering, Survey, and Safety Departments.
• Supervise and mentor Shift Bosses.
• Monitor the performance of the Person in Charge (P.I.C.)
• Develop supervisory capability through coaching and feedback.

Candidate Profile:

• Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory framework.
• Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic and challenging environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and manage a diverse range of stakeholders.

 Qualifications & Experience:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related discipline is required.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining operations, with a proven commitment to safety best practices.
• Ability to be appointed to the 204 Statutory Underground Manager position.
• Previous Sinking experience is required.
• Raise bore and Shotcrete experience will be highly regarded
• Valid Blasting Licence & First Aid Certificate
• Competent in statutory underground supervisory duties.
• Minimum of 10 – 15 years’ experience in underground mining, including extensive time in leadership roles.
