Job description

Mika Meats Limited has a position to be based in Chipata at the soon-to-be-opened Mika Meats butchery.

Position: Blockman

Minimum Qualifications and Personal Attributes
– Minimum of a Full Grade 12 certificate.
– Computer literate.
– Experience in a sales environment, front office operations, food production, hotel and catering management, meat cutting and/or a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the meat processing industry or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform job duties may be considered.

Responsibilities
The Blockman will be responsible and accountable to the Butchery or Outlet Manager for performance in the following areas:
– Cut meat products according to standard cuts and joints for beef, lamb, goat and pork.
– Assist with stock takes and receiving of stock.
– Ensure correct weighing and pricing.
– Check sell-by and expiry dates for all products.
– Ensure minimum waste, correct portion control and packaging.
– Ensure personal hygiene and follow health and safety procedures.
– Maintain company standards and merchandise.
– Be responsible for the cleanliness of the butchery or outlet.
– Compile reports of various meat cuts on a daily basis.
– Submit daily HR reports to HR Office.
