Job description

Position: Fabricator

Department: Production / Workshop

Location :Mwembeshi

Experience: Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Workshop Supervisor / Production Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and hardworking Fabricator with a minimum of 2 years’ practical experience in metal fabrication and workshop operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, cutting, welding, assembling, and finishing metal components and structures according to technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

– Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and fabrication specifications.

– Measure, mark, cut, bend, drill, and shape metal materials accurately.

– Carry out welding using appropriate welding techniques and equipment.

– Fabricate and assemble metal structures, frames, gates, doors, brackets, and other components.

– Operate fabrication equipment, hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, and cutting machines safely.

– Ensure all fabricated products meet required measurements, specifications, and quality standards.

– Conduct accurate measurements and inspections before, during, and after fabrication.

– Repair, modify, and maintain fabricated structures and components when required.

– Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

– Properly maintain and care for workshop tools, machinery, and equipment.

– Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

– Minimise material wastage and use materials efficiently.

– Work closely with supervisors, engineers, welders, and other workshop personnel.

– Complete assigned fabrication jobs within the required time-frame.

– Report damaged equipment, material shortages, safety concerns, or production issues to the supervisor.

Requirements

– Minimum 2 years’ proven experience as a Fabricator or in a similar metal fabrication role.

– Certificate or qualification in Metal Fabrication, Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field will be an added advantage.

– Good knowledge of welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, and metal fabrication techniques.

– Ability to read and understand technical drawings and measurements.

– Ability to use fabrication tools and workshop machinery safely and effectively.

– Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

– Good physical fitness and ability to work in a workshop environment.

– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

– Good time-management and problem-solving skills.

– Strong commitment to workplace safety.
