Medland Hospital, a premier ultra-modern medical facility in Lusaka, is looking for experienced, compassionate, and highly dedicated healthcare professionals to join our clinical team as Specialised Nurses.
Position: Specialised Nurses (NICU, ICU/CCU, OR)
Reference Number: Ref No. 031126
Specialties: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Intensive Care Unit / Coronary Care Unit (ICU/CCU), Operating Room / Theatre (OR)
Location: Lusaka, Zambia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Accurately assess complex patient conditions, interpret continuous diagnostic and hemodynamic data, and make rapid, informed clinical decisions utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Provide comprehensive specialized nursing care for critically ill neonatal, cardiac, intensive care, or perioperative surgical patients.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of clinical pharmacology, dosages, drug interactions, and safe administration practices, especially for high-risk and emergency medications.
- Proficiently set up, calibrate, and continuously monitor advanced medical equipment, including cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators, arterial lines, infusion pumps, alarms, oxygen delivery systems, and transducers.
- Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, surgeons, intensivists, pediatricians, and allied health professionals.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation.
- Provide compassionate patient and family-centred care, displaying high emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and effective communication.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized training institution.
- Valid and current practicing registration / licence with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as a general nurse.
- Minimum 3 years of working experience specifically as a specialized nurse in NICU, ICU/CCU, or Operating Room (OR).
- Familiarity with advanced medical technologies and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
