About the Mechanical Fitter Role The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for performing detailed inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnosing operational issues across various plant systems. Key equipment includes sand driers, screen machines, mixing machines, packaging machines, roofing sheet making machines, and paint manufacturing machines. This full-time position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and repair to ensure optimal production efficiency. Key Responsibilities for Mechanical Fitter Jobs in Kafue Efficiently disassemble and reassemble machinery to meet productivity and capacity planning targets, ensuring high utilization and performance standards. Lead, support, train, and mentor team members, including apprentices, to build a skilled workforce. Adhere to company quality procedures by promptly identifying, communicating, and documenting quality issues. Carry out maintenance, repairs, minor improvements, and additional tasks across the site. Perform routine planned preventive maintenance (PPM), reactive, and minor repairs independently and as part of a team, meeting all SLA and KPI targets. Collaborate with the Engineering Department to ensure timely completion of tasks and provide accurate estimates for extra work requirements. Participate in Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), including workshops focused on quality, cost, and delivery enhancements. Refurbish filling, screwcapping, and corking systems and equipment. Conduct root cause analysis for any failures or quality issues related to the wine filling process. Desired Skills and Attributes Strong fault-finding abilities on mechanical equipment. Strict compliance with safety standards and world-class housekeeping practices. Ability to identify unsafe conditions and promptly report them to management. Excellent planning, organizing, and coordination skills. A motivated self-starter who is a team player and eager to learn. Sound decision-making skills in a business context. Qualifications Candidates should hold a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
