Managing Director (Reinsurance – Zambia)

ZB Financial Holdings (ZBFH) is inviting applications from visionary and results-driven leaders for the position of Managing Director of a reinsurance company to be incorporated in Zambia. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Company’s strategic growth, drive profitability, strengthen market positioning and deliver innovative reinsurance solutions. The successful candidate will champion operational excellence, sound risk management and sustainable stakeholder value.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and drive the execution of business plans aligned with Group strategy and the One ZB philosophy.
• Drive revenue growth, profitability, market share and investment performance.
• Develop innovative, customer-centric reinsurance products, structures and pricing solutions.
• Strengthen underwriting, enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
• Build strategic relationships with clients, cedants, regulators and key industry stakeholders.
• Lead digital transformation in line with the One ZB Digital philosophy, drive operational efficiency and ensure effective resource utilization.
• Build, develop and retain a high-performing team, fostering accountability and a culture of excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk and Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance or a related discipline.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Business Leadership or an equivalent qualification.
• Membership of a recognized professional insurance body, such as AIISA, CII, IIZ, IIZA or equivalent, is required.
• Completion of an Executive Development Programme.
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in the risk and insurance sector, including 3 years at executive level.

• Strong strategic leadership, commercial acumen and business development skills.
• In-depth knowledge of reinsurance markets, underwriting, pricing and emerging risks.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment.
• Sound judgement, innovation and the ability to navigate complex regulatory, economic and market environments.
• Strong marketing and people-leadership skills, including recruitment, training and retention of key talent.
