MANAGER-LEGAL AND POLICY
MAIN DUTIES
Conducting research into thematic areas in order to inform the legal and policy making processes.
Development of Policies for the institution in order to ensure adherence to stipulated standards.
Undertaking the storage and retrieval of documents and instruments in order to ensure their safety and availability for use.
Drafting of legal opinions on matters referred to the department in order to facilitate compliance with the law.
Preparation of contracts and other legal documents in order to ensure their compliance and safeguard the interests of the institution.
To conduct litigation in civil suits involving the Institution in order to ensure the realization of the Institution’s interests.
To ensure timely preparation of work plans and implementation of the performance management system in order to monitor and evaluate performance.
Undertaking the domestication of international standards in order to ensure the country meets its international obligations.
To ensure effectively utilization of human, financial and other resources in order to facilitate the achievement of departmental objectives.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education/Professional Qualifications:
Grade 12 School Certificate
Bachelor Degree in Law
Advocate of the High Court of Zambia
Member of the Law Association of Zambia with valid practicing certificate
Work Experience/Competences
5 years of which 2 should be at management level
Ability to write analytical and technical reports
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Work experience in a regulatory agency will be an added advantage
