Barrick Lumwana Mining Corporation is currently seeking a dedicated Locum Doctor to join our Project Department on a short-term basis in Kalumbila, North West Province, Zambia. About the Locum Doctor Role – Locum Doctor Jobs in Kalumbila
Reporting directly to the Medical Superintendent – LEP, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring optimal healthcare delivery within the mining environment. You will coordinate healthcare needs in collaboration with established site health services, provide diagnosis and treatment for common medical conditions, and manage emergency referrals. Your responsibilities will also include compliance with statutory regulations, promoting occupational health and safety policies, and supporting continuous medical education initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate project healthcare requirements with site health services.
Assist the Occupational Health Superintendent in delivering professional medical services.
Provide diagnosis and treatment for common illnesses and medical conditions.
Manage patient referrals and liaise with external medical facilities.
Supervise emergency management and referrals off-site when necessary.
Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
Support ongoing medical education and health awareness campaigns.
Compile and report health statistics to management.
Develop and maintain safe work procedures and promote health and safety awareness.
Inspect medical and first aid facilities to ensure compliance with medical and statutory standards.
Monitor medical supplies and medication availability, reporting usage and stock levels.
Candidate Requirements
Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
Registered Medical Practitioner in Zambia.
Minimum of five (5) years post-graduate medical experience.
Experience or qualifications in Occupational Medicine are desirable.
Strong understanding of legislation related to mining employment and safety in Zambia.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and related software.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Valid Driver’s License is required.
