Environment Africa Zambia (EAZ) is inviting applications for the position of Livelihoods Field Officer in Zimba District, Southern Province. This opportunity forms part of an 18-month contract under the project titled “Strengthening the Resilience of Children, Youth and Vulnerable Smallholder Households in Southern Province, Zambia, to the Impacts of Climate Change,” funded by Kindernothilfe, Germany. Candidates passionate about advancing sustainable livelihoods through climate-smart agriculture and community development are encouraged to apply.

About the Livelihoods Field Officer Role

The Livelihoods Field Officer will play a vital role in implementing climate-smart agriculture and nutrition initiatives, supporting sustainable forest management, and enhancing disaster risk reduction efforts within local communities. The successful candidate will work closely with small-scale farmers and community groups to promote resilience and sustainable development in the face of climate change challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement climate-smart agriculture interventions targeting small-scale farmers to improve productivity and sustainability.
  • Provide support for community counselling services focused on nutrition and health awareness.
  • Assist communities in the development and execution of sustainable forest management plans.
  • Strengthen and support Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Satellite Committees at the local level to enhance preparedness and response.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Livelihoods Field Officer Jobs in Zimba

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in climate-smart agriculture and community development roles.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and community engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
