We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Officerto support our operations in Zambia by providing practical legal advice across corporate, commercial, labor, and regulatory matters.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with management, government authorities, and external counsel, ensuring legal compliance while actively managing risk in a dynamic, international business environment.

Key Responsibilities

 

Legal Compliance & AdvisoryZambia job market

 

Provide legal advice on Zambian laws and regulations related to company operations, including corporate, labor, commercial, tax, and regulatory matters;

 

Monitor changes in Zambian laws and policies and assess their impact on the company.

 

Contract Review & Management

 

Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and legal documents under Zambian law (both English and bilingual versions if required);

 

Ensure legal compliance and risk control in commercial agreements.

 

Labor & Employment Law

 

Advise on local labor law compliance, employment contracts, HR policies, and disciplinary procedures;

 

Handle labor disputes and support HR in employee relations matters.

 

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

 

Coordinate with external law firms on litigation, arbitration, and dispute matters;

 

Assist in evidence collection, case management, and communication with courts or authorities.

 

Government & External Liaison

 

Liaise with local government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external legal counsel;

 

Support company registration, licensing, renewals, and statutory filings.

 

Corporate Governance & Risk Control

 

Support corporate governance, internal policies, and compliance framework;

 

Identify legal risks and provide practical solutions.

 

Other Duties

 

Perform other legal-related tasks assigned by management.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

Education & Certification:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or above;

 

Qualified to practice law in Zambia / member of  the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) is preferred.Zambia job market

 

Work Experience

 

3+ years of legal experience in Zambia (law firm or in-house);

 

Experience working with Chinese companies or international companies is a strong advantage.

 

Skills & Competencies

 

Strong knowledge of Zambian laws and legal practice;

 

Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills;

 

Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.

 

Personal Attributes

 

High level of integrity and professionalism;

 

Detail-oriented, responsible, and proactive.
