Report To: Principal

A new skills training college based in Lusaka is looking to hire a qualified and experienced Bricklaying and Masonry Instructor/ Lecturer.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

To formally teach on a range of courses using a variety of methods.
To contribute to the review, planning and development of the curriculum.
To produce and develop schemes of work, lesson plans and develop new teaching and learning materials for use by self and Teacher/Assessors within the program area.
To promote highly effective relationships with learners to foster learning.
To contribute to the development of strategies to improve student retention, attendance, achievement, success rates and value added for named courses/cohorts of students.
Devise and apply a range of assessment activities.
Assess students work and provide high quality written and verbal feedback to support learners to improve and achieve their maximum potential, within the policy guidelines
Provide academic and pastoral support to guide, challenge and inspire learners to achieve their maximum potential.
Contribute to the enrolment and marketing process for new and future learners including interviews, assessments, schools events and promotions.
Produce student references and reports .
Undertake initial and diagnostic assessment of students.
Produce and monitor individual learning plans for learners and update them where necessary.
Monitor and report on individual student progress, progression and destinations.
Education

Qualifications and Skills

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent.

• Degree or Diploma in Design and Technology, Architecture or related field.

• TEVETA Accreditation as Trainer/ assessor.

• At least 2-3 years’ experience in similar position.

• Teaching Methodology Certificate will be an added advantage.

Position Name: TAILORING AND DESIGN LECTURER

Report To: Principal

About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified and passionate Tailoring and Design Lecturer to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality training in fashion design, garment construction, and tailoring techniques, while inspiring students to develop practical and creative skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver lectures and practical lessons in tailoring and fashion design

Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and training materials

Teach garment construction, pattern drafting, textile selection, and finishing techniques

Assess student performance through assignments, practicals, and examinations

Provide mentorship and guidance to students on projects and career development

Maintain workshop equipment and ensure safety standards are upheld

Keep up to date with current fashion trends and industry developments

Qualifications & Requirements:

Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Tailoring, or a related field

Teaching Methodology is an added advantage

Minimum of 2–3 years teaching or industry experience in tailoring/design

Strong practical skills in garment construction and pattern making

Good  communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work with diverse students and manage a classroom/workshop

TEVETA Accreditation
