Position: Lab Assistant Trainee (Entry-Level)

Location: Livingstone, Zambia

Reporting To: Lab Specialists / Operations Manager

Contract Type & Duration

This is a trainee position offered on a contract basis, starting with a three (3) month probationary period. Strong performers may be considered for contract extension or longer-term opportunities, depending on performance and project needs.

What You Will Learn & Do

Learn how to prepare laboratory tools, materials, and reagents
Assist with basic soil testing and sample analysis
Handle soil samples, including receiving, labeling, storing, and dispatching
Record test results and maintain laboratory records accurately
Perform basic laboratory tasks such as weighing, mixing, and sample preparation
Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Support other laboratory tasks as assigned by supervisors

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Graduate Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
No work experience required (basic knowledge of soil testing or laboratory procedures is an advantage).
Based in Livingstone or willing to relocate.

Essential Skills & Requirements

Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Android smartphone and basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, email)
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
Good communication skills and a positive team attitude

Working Conditions

Primarily indoor laboratory work
Hands-on tasks involving soil samples and laboratory equipment
