SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES LECTURER

1. JOB TITLE: BACHELOR OF ANIMAL SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION LECTURER

(CROP PRODCUTION AND FARM MANAGEMENT)

JOB PURPOSE: To teach undergraduate level, conduct research in respective field of specialisation or related programs, offer consultancy services and participate in all academic functions of the University.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Conduct lectures for full time, part time, distance and online classes

· Prepare course outlines and teaching materials

· Prepare lesson plans

· Conduct and develop research programs

· Supervise and assess students

· Curriculum development

· Develop academic content (modules)

· Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES

·  Ability to conduct research and compile reports

·  Ability to demonstrate academic and professional leadership

·  Computer skills

·  Excellent communication and presentation skills

·  Excellent interpersonal skills

QUALIFICATIONS

·  Full Grade 12 Certificate

·  1st Degree in Animal Science and Production or related field

·  Masters Degree in Animal Science and Production or related field

·  Teaching methodology qualification

·  Computer literate

·  Age: Above 25 years

·  Professional membership is a must

2. JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN

JOB PURPOSE: To support the effective operation of the library by providing technical and other user services, ensuring proper organization of library resources and delivering high-quality information and reference services to users.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform cataloguing and classification of library materials using approved standards and classification systems.

· Conduct regular shelf reading to ensure proper arrangement of collections.

· Manage the circulations desk, including issuing, returning, renewing, and reserving library materials

· Assist in collection development activities, including selection, acquisition and weeding of library resources.

· Operate, manage and maintain the integrated library system (ILS), particularly KOHA, for cataloguing, circulation, and reporting functions.

· Provide reference and information services to library users, including guidance on research and resource use.

·  Assist users with accessing electronic resources and online databases

· Prepare reports as required and make recommendations related to improving procedures in the library.

·  Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES

·  Excellent customer service skills

·  Attention to detail and accuracy

·  Ability to organize and manage information

·  Basic knowledge of library classification systems

·  Proficiency with computer systems and library management software

·  Communication skills to effectively interact with patrons 

QUALIFICATIONS

·  Full Grade 12 Certificate

·  Bachelors Degree in Library and information Science or related field

·  Computer literate

·   Age: Above 25 years

·   2 years work experience

·   Professional membership is a must
